  18. <p>     Rescued from the horrors of Sarajevo, 13-year-old ZLATA FILIPOVIC
  19. arrived in Paris with a teddy bear, a few books and the status
  20. of literary celebrity. Her moving diary of life in the embattled
  21. city was published in France last month and has soared to the
  22. top of the best-seller lists there. In simple prose the teenager
  23. decries the "disgusting war" and vilifies the politicians as
  24. "the crazy kids who are ruining the lives of ordinary people."
  25. Rights to the book have been sold in 12 countries, including
  26. Germany and the U.S., where it is due from Viking in March.

  30. <p>     A bubbly young mother who can flash a Pepsodent smile, KRISTIN
  31. HERSH is not the sort of alternative-rock songbird to remind
  32. you of Nirvana-hag Courtney Love. One of theThrowing Muses,
  33. Hersh, 27, debuts next week with her first solo CD, which features
  34. little more than her ethereal voice. Hectic tour schedules aside,
  35. Hersh is a housewife. Well, a somewhat unconventional one: when
  36. she picked up her little boy at school recently, one of his
  37. playmates turned to him and said, "That's not a mom lady."

  46. <p>     As though Michael Jackson weren't troubled enough, he must now
  47. confront the sad reality that old girlfriend Brooke Shields
  48. has moved on. She is reportedly dating Andre Agassi.

  50. <p>     Free-thinking perennial Vanity Fair cover subject Demi Moore
  51. has been cast as victimized Puritan Hester Prynne in the screen
  52. version of The Scarlet Letter. Pity Emma Thompson fans.

  57. '90s TV family, did little to prepare for his role as the working-class
  58. patriarch of America's favorite modern Stone Age TV family.
  59. "I went to the Museum of Natural History, and I did heavy research,"
  60. jokes the Roseanne star, who will play Fred in this spring's
  61. The Flintstones. The movie, which also stars Rosie O'Donnell,
  62. Rick Moranis and Elizabeth Perkins, will not concede anything
  63. to the 1990s by presenting a more sensitive post-Neanderthal
  64. Fred. "We've taken him back a few steps," says Goodman.
